Let us take care of your travel between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island
Experience the stunning world-class McLaren Vale wine region and the Fleurieu Peninsula by travelling at least one way by road to Kangaroo Island. It’s just too beautiful to fly over completely.
We are offering a range of options for travel between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island on a FERRY/FERRY or FERRY<>FLY basis. These add-ons can be requested with any duration of Experience package or room category booking for travel from July 1, 2024.
A reminder that all scheduled on-island transfers to/from Sea Dragon are provided as part of the Experience packages so on-island car hire is not necessary when booking Experiences.
Transfers
A third party national transfer provider will conduct the private transfers between Adelaide/Glenelg/Adelaide Airport and Cape Jervis. An Executive Sedan will be utilised for 1-3 pax and 4 pax will be booked into a 7-seat van. Transfer time is approximately 90 minutes.
Tour
We have collaborated with Off Piste 4WD Tours who are specialists in the Fleurieu Peninsula region – the gateway to Kangaroo Island and home of the McLaren Vale wine region – to provide shared tours (maximum 20 passengers) for our guests connecting Adelaide with the Sealink ferry to Kangaroo Island.
Tour departs: Daily except Dec 25 & Jan 1 from Adelaide & Glenelg accommodation or from Cape Jervis. Min/Max pax: 4/20 pax. Private tours also available on request. Includes: Three- course homestead lunch with private cellar wine tastings, 4WD beach drive and Onkaparinga National Park visit
A sample itinerary is as follows. Same stops are included in reverse direction.
- Hotel pick up from CBD & Glenelg accommodation
- 4X4 adventure through Onkaparinga National Park – Refreshments, wildlife, Yidaki & First Nations history
- Premium wine tasting at a local vineyard
- Three-course lunch at Ben (the owner’s) family homestead and Shiraz vineyards
- Visit the homestead’s 134-year-old underground cellar after lunch
- Beach drive along the majestic Silversands – chance to dip the feet
- Arrive at Cape Jervis after relaxed drive through the Fleurieu Peninsula
Ferry
The public ferry service operated by Sealink is utilised for these packages. The crossing is approximately 45 minutes, with guests asked to arrive at the terminal 30 minutes prior to departure

Perfect for multi-generational families travelling together, pre or post wedding getaways or VIP clients looking for exclusivity and privacy at a South Australian accommodation unlike any other. Enjoy 250 acres / over 100 hectares of your own oceanfront wildlife paradise and be looked after by our onsite team as well as our professional Sea Dragon guides for island excursions.
Prices start from $20,000 for two nights for exclusive use of Sea Dragon Kangaroo Island including breakfast and dinner in our ocean view dining room. Exclusive use is not available during October, November, February or March.
Capacity on a twin share basis is 26 guests across 13 accommodations. Maximum capacity for private use is 34 when utilising triple and quad share in our Suites and Villas. Price varies depending on amount of guests.
Other inclusions are at additional expense and include but are not limited to:
- Private Touring with Sea Dragon guides (English, Spanish, French or Italian-speaking) from $320 per person per day, including lunch
- Airport and ferry transfers
- Meeting space with lunch
- On-site exclusive activities including wine and gin tasting, cooking classes, art classes, conservation presentations, star talks
