Sea Dragon Kangaroo Island Full-Day Nature Tour
Included for all Experience guests.
Highlights:
- Seal Bay Conservation Park
- Flinders Chase National Park including Remarkable Rocks, Cape Du Couedic Lighthouse, Weirs Cove and Admirals Arch
- Lunch at the famous Vivonne Bay General Store
Departing from Sea Dragon after breakfast (exact time confirmed upon initial check-in at Sea Dragon), our day of adventure begins travelling west across the island towards the first stop, Seal Bay Conservation Park. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife on the roadsides as you drive through a variety of vegetative areas.
Seal Bay Conservation Park is home to the endangered Australian sea lion. With only an estimated 12,000 sea lions left in the world, Seal Bay is the third largest colony of this species. As our guides hold a special Seal Bay accreditation, they are able to walk you through the striking sand dune system and along the pristine beach for approximately an hour, learning all about these beautiful mammals.
Before Flinders Chase, we’ll enjoy a stop at the Vivonne Bay General Store for one of their famous (and delicious) whiting burgers (a local and very popular fish). There are also options available for those with special dietary needs. From October 1 we will be stopping for lunch at our own exclusive lunch spot on a private property, home to beautiful koalas.
On the way to the famous Flinders Chase National Park keep an eye out for Rosenberg goannas lazing in the sun, where we’ll view the stunning rejuvenation of native bush species from the devastating bushfires of 2019-20. A stop at Remarkable Rocks will give you the first views of the rugged coastline in this diverse national park. The amazing rock formations and distinct red rocks are a photographer’s delight.
The afternoon will be spent at other known attractions in the park including Admirals Arch.
Learn about the early maritime history of this wild environment, all the while spotting other native animal species including long-nosed fur seals at Admirals Arch, echidnas, kangaroos, tammar wallabies and a range of birds and reptiles.
Did you know that Kangaroo Island has its own kangaroo? A sub-species of the western grey kangaroo, the Kangaroo Island sub-species is darker brown in colour, shorter and stockier.
After a nice big dose of fresh ocean air, we return to Sea Dragon in the early evening (exact time depending on season).

Guided by past guests’ desire to spend more time enjoying the beauty of Sea Dragon itself, we have introduced a schedule of activities that will begin from the 1st of October, 2024, to replace the Taste of Kangaroo Island tour currently offered.
Guests will be treated to a selection of optional activities and experiences taking place on-site at Sea Dragon and on the Dudley Peninsula.
Activities will be available on a rotating schedule, depending on seasonal conditions, and guests will be able to choose as many or as few activities as they wish from this schedule, upon arrival. Pre-booking is not necessary or possible.
