Experience package guests have the choice of the following curated selection of activities in addition to their Full Day Nature Tour which explores Flinders Chase National Park and Seal Bay Conservation Park.
The activities allow guests to experience the natural wonders and history of the Dudley Peninsula right on Sea Dragon’s doorstep, meet iconic locals, and sample some of Kangaroo Island’s world class produce – all enabling time to intertwine everything from relaxation to exploration during a Sea Dragon stay.
The following activities operate on a rotating timetable which will be shared with guests at check-in. As the activities are subject to various external factors including third party operators and weather, we do not publish the timetable in advance, however have listed the frequency below. We also do not take pre-bookings of activities for these reasons.
Experience package guests can choose as many of the included activities as they desire during their stay however the possibility to participate in all activities will be determined by various factors such as length of stay and arrival and departure times.
Guests staying for four nights or longer will have the best opportunity to participate in all activities as well as enjoying some time to relax at beautiful Sea Dragon.
Guests booked on a self-drive basis may have the opportunity to book a place on these activities, subject to availability and at additional expense.
Talk & Taste
Kangaroo Island honey and native foods
Kangaroo Island, renowned for its pristine environment, boasts a thriving honey industry centred around the pure Ligurian bee which was brought to the island from Italy in 1884. Shortly after, it was declared a sanctuary and therefore remains the oldest bee sanctuary in the world, producing honey of exceptional quality. Guests at Sea Dragon can enjoy a tasting workshop of Kangaroo Island honey and its products learning about the unique flavours and characteristics of each. Thanks to the purity of our island’s agriculture, we also harvest some unique native ingredients that are included in many of our dishes and which will be sampled as part of this experience.

Kangaroo Island gin or Grasshopper beer
Enjoy a drink and snack-pairing workshop which showcases the wares of the oldest dedicated gin distillery in Australia – Kangaroo Island Spirits – and the newest brewery to reach our shores, Grasshopper Beer. Guests will have the choice between gin or beer and will be guided through the unique flavour profiles of each tasting which is then uniquely matched with various snacks highlighting native ingredients found in South Australia.

Dudley Wonders
Antechamber Bay beach and birds
Join a guided experience at nearby beautiful Antechamber Bay, where nature enthusiasts can discover the island’s rich avian life. Explore the area in search of native bird species such as the Kangaroo Island White-eared Honeyeater and the Kangaroo Island Glossy Black Cockatoo.This tour also includes some free time for a stroll along the pristine white sands of the 4.2km beach followed by morning tea, allowing guests to enjoy refreshments amidst the tranquil surroundings.

Cape Willoughby Lighthouse tour and heritage walk
Embark on a guided coastal walk at the foot of Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, South Australia’s oldest, delving into Kangaroo Island’s maritime history. The journey continues with a tour of the lighthouse where guests hear stories of the lighthouse keepers and the challenges they faced. Guests can climb to the top for stunning ocean views, offering a perfect blend of history and breathtaking scenery.

Visit a local sheep shearer and his kelpie dogs
Be welcomed by a quintessential Australian sheep farmer who will give guests a glimpse into the traditional craft of sheep shearing. Visitors will also have the chance to meet his hardworking kelpie dogs, renowned for their intelligence and agility in herding sheep. An authentic and engaging experience connecting guests to the island’s rural roots.

Nature & Nurture
Self-guided Sea Dragon walks
Thanks to our stunning 250 acres of bushland, two thirds of which is a dedicated nature conservancy, we have beautiful self-guided walks where guests have the opportunity to spot over 35 different bird species (included threatened and endangered birds), as well as echidna, Tamar wallaby and our famous Kangaroo Island kangaroos. Please refer to the walking maps in your guest compendium and be sure to visit reception to note your departure time and chosen walk on the guest log.

Morning yoga
Join our resident yogi, Pam prior to breakfast for a guided yoga session listening to the sounds of the waves lapping on Pink Bay.

Sundowners with the kangaroos
It won’t take long for guests to realise that one of the most special things about Sea Dragon is our huge population of wild Kangaroo Island kangaroos. While we certainly see them during the day, the afternoons are when they really come out to play. Enjoy evening drinks from island producers at our unique outdoor bar surrounded by our bounciest of residents.

Grape Expectations
Tasting at Dudley Wines
The Dudley Peninsula is fortunate to be home to two great wineries which both feature on the Sea Dragon wine list. For wine aficionados or guests simply wishing to explore more of our beautiful region, be transferred to and from Sea Dragon to Dudley Wines (looking out for echidna on the way) where you will enjoy a tasting paddle of five wines and enjoy great views over Backstairs Passage.

Tasting and lunch* at False Cape Wines
A great family-run winery named False Cape awaits. A short transfer from Sea Dragon takes guests to this inland winery surrounded by eucalypts, bush turkeys and a unique cellar door made from recycled materials. Enjoy an included tasting paddle of four wines with the option to delight in one of their rustic homemade pies or sharing platters for lunch (additional expense). Guests may wish to dine in the Sea Dragon Restaurant for lunch (additional expense) and simply opt to visit False Cape for wine tasting only.
